Music Video Premiere: Lady Gaga “G.U.Y.”

Lady Gaga FINALLY released (and directed) her second video from her album, ARTPOP, this past Saturday. After a turbulent year and half few months, the clip for “G.U.Y.” reminds us why we fell in love with Gaga’s eccentric take on pop culture to begin with. The Zedd produced track feels like a “LoveGame” sequel, while the video takes on the dark, whimsical imagery that made “Bad Romance” an instant classic. Sure, it’s a bit “reductive,” but now’s not the time in Gaga’s career to be taking dramatic chances. As the metaphor in the video suggests, the music industry has had it’s way with Gaga and left her for dead. She’s at least smartened up now and is playing their game, but by her own rules. Even The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as well as Bravo’s Andy Cohen make cameo appearances, causing speculation that Bravo helped fund the project. “G.U.Y.” is nothing innovative, however, it does fit in a safe pocket of Lady G’s portfolio while still being fresh enough to stay relevant.  Check out the “ARTPOP Film” below!
